Rick Peters first portrayed Elvis in the famous meeting between Elvis and President Nixon (Bob Gunton) in Elvis Meets Nixon (1997). Unlike Shannon's 2016 version , Elvis Meets Nixon is a spoof/comedy about a meeting that takes place after Elvis moves to the White House to become a DEA marshal, so understandably Why is Rocky afraid of meeting Elvis? The actor has become an icon with his charismatic, tragic and influential performances. As Elvis said, it was clear long after the show was over that Butler was fully committed to the role. After winning a Golden Globe and being nominated for a SAG Award, it's no surprise that Butler was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor for the first time. Some considered Butler the favorite in the category, but even if he didn't win, his performance as Elvis would undoubtedly go down as one of the King of Rock's greatest achievements.
