Top Gun: Maverick Star Lands Next Lead Movie Role In Action Remake

Chief Maverick star Glenn Powell will star in the upcoming film remake .

The actor will play Lambs star Anthony Hopkins in Castle, a remake of the 4x4 thriller.

The new screenplay is written by Michael Arlen Ross, known for the films 'Paradise Lost', 'The Fallen' and 'The Fallen' .

According to a synopsis for Locked, the film is a "suspense thriller about a thief who breaks into a luxury SUV and ends up in a trap set by a complex and deadly man."

The film is produced by " The Evil Dead" and " Spider-Man " director Sam Raimi and " The Book of Night " director David Jaroweski.

Raimi Jaraveski told Deadline that he was the first choice to direct the project after the collaboration.

"The script was so good and he's such a great communicator that we had Anthony Hopkins, the greatest actor of our time," she says.

“There's a soul to Glenn's character that slowly reveals itself as the film progresses.

“He looks like he's just a thief, a guy who doesn't care, but as the movie progresses, you realize that he has a wife and a child that he loves and that he's been abused, and that's an experience. It allows him to think about how to treat her and how to live with her.'

Glenn recently played Lt. Jake "Cat" Seres in Top Gun. Maverick with Tom Cruise, Jennifer Connelly, Val Kilmer, Jon Hamm and Miles Teller.

In a recent interview with IndieWire, she revealed that Tom gave her key advice for the role, urging her to "lean into the fake."

"Sometimes you can fall into the trap of wanting to be on camera. And you don't want to be Draco Malfoy on a film like this where you know there's going to be a lot of eyes... but Tom advised me. "You have to work really hard to make that happen. That's all," he said.

"Everybody in the movie doubts their own abilities. You're the only one. So if you make excuses, the movie won't work."
